Setting up multiple calendars on the iphone

Open the safari browser

type in “m.google.com”

Scroll down towards the bottom and tap on the “Google Apps user?” box

type in “fbcn.org” in the Google Apps Domain box and tap “Go”

Tap on the “sync” icon

Tap on the “Sign in with your Google Apps Account” box

You should see an iphone box with your last sync information – tap on the box

The next page should show you all of your available calendars

Select the ones you want to show up on your iphone calendar, then tap “Save”

You should see “Calendar selection successful”, then you can close the browser

8:00 am:

Continued working on Camper getting it ready for our trip next week to Ft. Wilderness. Ran into snag putting on the new shower faucet. It seems the input nipples are too long to allow the plumbing feed tubes to connect in the back. Building a spacer out of an extra piece of cutting board and hoping it looks good.
Going to have to get a lot done today. Big day. Fix awning, various repairs around camper, take down Christmas lights, get ready for D-Now. Try and work on the Kitchen and get it finished! Will add more to his post later today.

Finally got to bed. Finished painting the underneath of the kitchen cabinets, finished camper prep, helped with D-Now,

People Don’t Write Like This Anymore

I think Charles Spurgeon had a better English education than I did:

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

How different will be the state of the believer in heaven from what it is here! Here he is born to toil and suffer weariness, but in the land of the immortal, fatigue is never known. The Miracle of Family

I often overlook God’s amazing talent. If you look at all that He has created and done, it is not hard to just be in awe. But with the business of life, I can overlook His amazing creation. I can also overlook Miracles that happen everyday. I usually associate miracles with large, God sized events: raising the dead, parting the Red Sea, etc. But actually the amazing things that God does are the day to day interactions we have with the world in which we live in. One of those day to day interactions is with my precious family, Jennifer, John Robert, Hannah Mae and Sarah Kate. Those 4 people are the biggest blessings in my life. Jesus uses them to help make me a better person. God uses them to teach me lessons and to help me keep my priorities in check with His great will. They love me regardless of the circumstances, they are my biggest fans, and cause me to draw closer to God. You see, that is the key, if you are involved with anything that draws you AWAY from God, get out of it. The will of God is NEVER for you to be drawn away, but to be drawn IN. Don’t, though, use this as a way of escape. Remember, God knows our hearts and our inner thoughts. He is not fooled. He will judge us accordingly. With that being said, I praise Jesus for my family. I especially praise Him for my wife of 8 years. She is the most amazing woman I have ever known. Her dedication to me and our children inspires me to be a better Husband, Dad and employee. God bless her today and my children. I love you all.

John Robert’s Big Bible Ceremony

My son received his BIG Bible a couple of weeks ago in church. This symbolizes his graduation from his little kids Bible to a real, NIV Bible. I am so proud of him and look forward to what the Lord has in store for his life!

Social Networking….is it for me?

I used to think that the social networking phenom was something that I needed to jump onto. So I did. For a little while that is. During that time I felt that this “new” technology of communication would enrich my life. Help me stay connected with friends, family, etc. It did, but then something happened. Something that always happens with the human spirit, substitution. I began to let social networking substitute my time for things that in reality are more important. I will give an example. It used to be that watching the television was a family event. People would gather around the television for family programs that would bring them together in many ways. Actually, even before TV there was Radio. But in essence people would gather around the radio and participate in stories, news, events, etc. But over time, the human pre-disposition to addiction took over. People began to spend 6,8, even 10 hours a day watching the TV. Obviously this prevented them from doing other, more productive things. People today are overweight I believe because of this reason. For me I started really boycotting the television years ago. But enter social networking: THE NEW ADDICTION. Fast forward to the last 1.5 years of my life and I will let you know that in that time since I have been on FACEBOOK, WORDPRESS, and TWITTER I have seen hours of my life wasted because I was catching up on other peoples “gossip”, literally. Let’s all face it, we now have a universal gossip channel for everyone to see our laundry. We do not need tabloids anymore to read about people’s lives. We are all now celebrities. In fact, I remember when I went to a seminar regarding social networking and one of the main reasons to do it was for the “fame”. Looking back on that I fell into the trap. I began wanting to catch up on peoples “status updates and twitters” just to see if they were struggling, battling with any inner demons. I have to admit that my flesh wanted something “juicy” to flesh itself out on there. I needed drama! Is that what I as a Christian needed? Did I need to be in constant judgment of others and what they were doing? Do I need to read what is going on with other people’s lives in their “stream of consciousness”? I found myself wasting more time than I needed to. In fact I ended up limiting the accessibility to FACEBOOK at my church (I am the IT director) due to the constant time waster it became for the staff. I could write more on this, but I believe it would be better suited for a book. Even right now I am borderline writing in a stream of consciousness. What ever happened to being careful in what you write? What happened to conservative penmanship? My point is that the Lord Jesus has called all of us be conscious of what we are doing. To take responsibility for the things we write and say. Do I really need to share about my failures to everyone? I certainly do not need to hide them from people I trust and know well, but do I need to share them with the entire world? That is the question. In addition, is it really necessary to communicate about what kind of breakfast I had in the morning? What I did in the last 5 minutes? In my honest opinion a lot of this can be summed up in a video I just watched by Miley Cyrus. Now mind you, I certainly do not want you to think I am some kind of mega-fan of hers, but I believe she may have hit the nail head on this one regarding Twitter.

Well, I have not decided to drop Twitter and Facebook as of yet. But I certainly am NOT going to let it take more of my time. I don’t have enough of that already. Let me spend it doing the Lord’s work instead.

Just wanted to let you know that I have not forgotten about you. I will start writing again, but I have to find out how to make a day last longer than 24 hours Maybe I could be like Al Mohler and only sleep 3 hours a day and still be able to function. Michael Jackson

I have to admit that I have been rather digusted at how much publicity he has gotten over his death. There are so many things that he has done that have prevented him from being classified as a “legend”. He has made many wrong decisions that have caused him to be portrayed as a “freak”. I do not know if he has done everthing that the media claims he has done, but I know God knows the truth about him. I also know that Michael now knows Jesus is the Son of God for SURE, I just hope he knew this BEFORE he died. That is the test.

But I wanted to write this article about more than his passing, but about an album that he created some 20 years ago. The album was “Bad”. This album is an absolute masterpiece of “pop” music. I can not think of any album that can compare to the mastery of this album. He wrote 9 out of 11 songs on the album. Even though he did not write every song, I guarentee that he created the melodies for EVERY single song. The album when it came out was a sonic journe, and to this day still is. His use of vocal overdubbing and harmonization is the bar at which all other “pop” artists aspire to. He defined the art with this album. I believe it is better than “Thriller” (which is not a “Bad” album if you know what I mean . The recording company is EPIC. I remember when I bought this album I could not be believe the precision and musicality of it. Nothing at the time I purchased it could touch it. His stereo vocal work is incredible. Just listen to “Can’t Stop Loving You” and you can just see how his mastery of music comes out. “Liberian Girl” is so incredibly well recorded that MP3′s can not do it justice. You must listen to this album on a CD in order to really hear it. He completely opened up the sound stage with his vocal work. It made you feel as if you were in a MUCH larger room. As if the music enveloped you. That is mastery in recording. Very few recording companies can do this well (GRP, Telarc, Polydor, Atlantic, are a couple). I am listening to the album right now as I write this and it reminds me why I do sound reinforcement. I love music. I sometimes forget how Jesus has given me the abilty to emerse into it, almost like I enter a another world. I have met a few people in my life that love music like this (Nathan Gaddis, Jamie Wigginton, are a few names that come to mind). I have to tell you that they site Michael Jackson as the master of his art. I have to agree. But I hesitate to elevate him any more than that. When it came to music, he knew what he was doing. I don’t know many artists that have a mastery of music like he did. John Mayer may be one. He is a master.

My greatest desire for Michael Jackson is that I can hope he knew Jesus personally. We may never know who he really was. The media can do many things that can distort our view of someone. But God knows everyone for who they really are. I really hope I can meet Michael in heaven. I would like to thank him for inspiring me to be a better muscian and sound engineer.

It simply became too time consuming, and led to anxiety anyways. The Lord needs more time with my in the morning and it has been good. I have not read ANY news websites for the past week and it feel GOOD! I have had more time with the Lord in His Word than I have in the last 6 months. Now the only thing I need to do now is get more sleep so I am more able to comprehend what I am reading when I wake up! You all have a great day.

This is a great section from the devotion today by Oswald Chambers. He is just so dead on:

“Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do . . . .” The disciple who abides in Jesus is the will of God, and what appears to be his free choices are actually God’s foreordained decrees. Is this mysterious? Does it appear to contradict sound logic or seem totally absurd? Yes, but what a glorious truth it is to a saint of God.
